A Welcome to Country is a ceremony performed by Traditional Owners to acknowledge and give a blessing for events to take place respectfully on their traditional lands. It’s a practice and protocol which dates back to way before colonisation.
The Wurundjeri People (Woi wurrung language group) are the recognised Traditional Custodians of a large cultural estate that includes urban, rural lands and waterways. Wurundjeri Country includes the inner city of Melbourne extending North of the Great Dividing Range, east to Mount Baw Baw, South to Mordialloc Creek and West to the Werribee River.
